Its really not that bad. The first real machanical project I ever did was put a full exhaust (including headers) on my '90 300zx, I was 15 and it turned out fine. That engine bay is way righter than an ls1 and each header has 12 bolts, where as the ls1 only has 6 per side and it requires removal of alot less stuff to get at it. All you will need is the right size sockets, a good ratchet, possibly an extention or two, some spray lube and maybe something to slip over the handle of your ratchet to get more leverage, I used a long ratchet extention wit a big socket that would fit around the ratchet handle, it works really well...

So do it yourself, you will feel very proud and appreciate it more.

Why would you need to do that? We put a set of pacesetter long tubes on my friends 01 ss with no need to jack the motor up...

I didnt jack up the motor on any of the 3 I did. In fact, I dont think I ever removed anything but the CAI and the old manifolds.

If your not using a lift just get the car as high up in the air as you can (Safely).

I suppose the only reason I say to pay someone to do it is because I didnt have a lift the last time I did it, I just had the car up on my lift and it would have been 4bajillion times easier.

I used this write-up and just worked through the rest. And I put both in through the top. Good Luck.
