What is the compression ratio? Depending the motor may like NGK TR55s or TR6s

My ~11:1 stock bottom end setups like TR55s, but my 12.2:1 383 liked TR6s. Here's some good articles that will help you determine heat range and everything else too.

Well considering you bought Brett's old motor you need a gasket style plug. I would start out with some AR3923's on that, maybe even a 3924.

Start cold and work you way up, dont start hot and work cold you will end up hurting things.

AFR heads require gasket plugs, just like LS1 motors.

Those autolites cross reference to like 4 other manufacture's plugs. NGK, Champion, etc.. so if you have a prefernece that you'd like to run with you can.
