crickets love me.
Here's another of taking the intake off the engine using a mallet and prybar

Just a comment on the prybar technique... you did know that there are pads to pry on cast into various places on the intake perimeter, right? They are the quickest and easiest way to go. Especially if you are working with some thin or compressed gaskets that don't allow space to easily get a pry bar between the manifold and cylinder head. I used to do it your way too, until I realized what those cast in pads were meant for.

On the driver's side there is on by the PCV valve, one between the two rear bolts, and one built into the thread bosses between the front bolts.
On the passenger side there is one between the two front bolts and one between the two rear bolts.
I usually pry on the one by the PCV valve gently and the intake pops right off.
Don't feel bad, I was working on them for almost two years before I realized. It's just nice to use them because it provides more leverage, so you use less force and have less risk of damaging any gasket surface.

Didn't realize that. I'll check out my manifold and see where you're talking about.

Not really afraid of damaging gasket surfaces especially since the pry point I use is on the extreme outside of the manifold and cylinder head which is why I chose that spot. In the years I've taken that same manifold off the car so many times they surfaces are still smooth.

Thanks all. Of course there was a lot more I wanted to say regarding the detail, but just didn't think about it at the time. Just so everyone knows lash on a solid roller can vary. The cam card for the cam I am running calls for .017 cold.
Oh.. and if you use a remote start, make sure to engage the e-brake and put the tranny in neutral.
And lol.. no one has every said I sound like Akroyd. I'll work on some impressions for the next video.
