Default rocker arm or exhaust leak

I can't figure this out it sounds like its coming from the back of the engine on the driverside. It started about a week ago maybe 2 at the most. I'd leave for work you could start it up and the exhaust sounds real raspy, but once i get down the road about amile then get the highway i dont hear it so much. Well i was at work talking to a few friends and i've singled it out that it does it bad if you just started it up, if it runs not so bad. If you rev it up really slow and let off of it you can hear it. you can hear it a little bit when you rev it up but when the revs drop it's really noticeable. My car has roller rockers on it which i adjust and fixed a few months ago, and there isn't any metal pinging sound doesnt feel like any powerloss. If anybody has any ideas id appreciate ehm, i just hope's its not the rocker arms

Sounds like it could be a loose rocker arm, maybe take off the valve cover on that side and take a look at things. Maybe tighten all your header bolts and see if that helps any.

Never underestimate the noise that an exhaust leak could cause. If it gets better after the engine warms up, it indicates an exhaust leak.

Sound like an Exhaust leak, you might have a broken manifold bolt or a craked manifold. Also could be the manifold/y-pipe flange. This would explain why it semi goes away when it's up to temp.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago and all it was ,was the header bolt closest to the firewall. I tightened it up and it went away. So far it has not comeback. Chech all of them, it might just be that easy.

I had the exact same symptoms......including the letting off and it getting louder.....everyone that listened to it thought it was a lifter.....ended up being a cracked piston........

Thanks,

Tony

stock manifolds still have bolts...I would check them, one loose bolt is all it takes sometimes.

Another way to find a possible exhaust leak is put the tranny in a higher gear and step on the gas. If the sound becomes more prominent then it is an exhaust leak.
It's possible you have a loose spark plug as well.

Good point, as that will have a similar sound....
