Default Which TB for a 398 stroker?? 52 or 58

I still rolling with my 48mm on a stroked 398 and actually made good power but I know notice at high rpm it seem like not enough air or something.. What do you guy think?? It has hooker LT and motor built right, the only thing stock is the 48mm. I also heard a 58 is an over kill and I will get the same amount power with a 52? My intake is bore to a 58m also. This is a N/A 398. which one is should I go.. Need LT1 pro's help..

ok i am def. not a pro...(yet) lol but i would first ask if you have had your heads flowed??

if you have then take those numbers....and match them up to the throttle body that flows around that amount of air. (cfm) i think.

i have a 58mm bbk on my 396. im not redy to run it yet but im sure i will eventually get a monoblade. i just like em.

all this is my opinion and i hope it helps you out.

it lik the same as a carb u cant put a 1050cfm on a mild motor makin 350 hp its over kill. u need to get the right cfm for the power ur workin with. u can actually lose power by goin to big.

Monoblade and you won't ever have to worry about it. Accufab has a nice formula that calculates airflow needed for an engine. I talked to them a while ago about it.

Unlike a carb'ed car, you cant over-TB an EFI engine.

A larger one may have more issues tuning idle, part throttle drivability, or tip-in, but it wont hurt performance.

My intake is LT4 bore to 58mm and heads are AFR 220 Heads with 290 intake 207 exc flow. I just dont want to over kill. Could that be also why im running too rich mayeb?? I dyno at 440 on a mustang dyno and with my 48mm. that the only thing stock on the motor left.

The monoblade can make tuning idle a little tricky, but it certainly does flow.
The 58 should be plenty, but if you happen across a mono cheap or you don't already
have a 58, it may be a wise investment to support a future build.
Keep in mind that the manifold has to me ported differently for a mono than for a 58.
If you're having your head/cam guy port it, let him know what you are doing.

My setup been up and running for a few month, just didnt have anymore money at that time of the build to buy my TB but now I do, so pretty much I should go 58mm and match my intake, Should I see notice notice the difference??

I'd say go with the 58. I'm running a 58mm on my blown 383 and am putting out about 600 rwhp. As previously stated, you can get the 58mm in case you ever do anything else extensive in the future.

Run as big of t/b as you can, your intake will never flow enough to hurt your power. Monoblades are nice but if you going to do all that might as well do the supervictor with acufab t/b.

i've made 725rwhp through a 52mm and unported stock manifold through a th400 and 9" rear, when pushing air into the intake it dosent hurt that much but when sucking on N/A motor you want to suck as much air as possible.
