A t56 is much stronger than a Muncie . Also , the Z28 / T-A / SS all had the same exact unit in them . Tremec rates them about 450 lbs torque but they will hold closer to 650 at the weight most F body cars are .

bringing this one back for another question. 650 whp because of its weight. will decreasing the weight or putting it in a car much lighter cause it to hold up a little better

Not the weight of the transmission, the weight of the car it's installed into. A lighter car will have less stress on the drivetrain.

ya im talking about weight of the car here i know weight of the trany doesnt have anything to do with it. im planing on using a stock t56 in a datsun 240 with around 600-700whp im guessing i should be fine then.

its a crap shoot really.

it may hold up well, it may not.

really depends on how hard you beat on it.

600hp and 5000rpm clutch dumps will probably break something.
600hp and a road race setup will proably last a while

assuming the weight of a 240 datsun with you in it will probably be less than 3000 lbs I would say you will be fine. If you power shift or just generally abuse it you will probably end up breaking the syncro keys, 3/4 fork, or fork pads but the hard parts like the mainshaft, input, etc. should be fine. Heres a link to our rebuild page if you're interested: http://www.tick-performance.com/tick...ackages/fbody/

The real killer of the shifting components breaking is the clutch setup. If the clutch isn't releasing properly you'll soon have broken parts inside the tranny.
