hey just a question for the manua transmission guys. How much does a stock rebuild cost for a lt1 t56? im lookin for a swap and a guy is sellin his for 800 bucks with 120k miles on it and said it was pulled because it was having a hard time going into 6th? so whats an estimated amount to pay a shop to rebuild the t56?

I've found shops charging between $300-$500 for labor. Parts depend on what you need. At a minimum, I think you'll want a friction/blocker ring kit, snap ring kit, clutch slave and master (you've got the trans out anyway). Check out D&D Performance for part prices. I know other guys on this forum know alot more about T56's than I do will make some good recommendations.

You'd be looking at a minimum of about $200 in parts (of what you should replace "while you're there"), and then any hard parts are above and beyond that. If a slider is messed up, figure $125-$150. If a gear, another $125-$150. It really varies, I've put just about nothing in to a rebuild before, I've put $1200 in new parts in to a rebuild before.

To quote Forrest, "Transmissions are like a box of chocolates..."

{and much like chocolate, they get all melty inside if you get them too hot }
