Rebuilding my T56
Hey guys, My spec clutch started slipping at about 1k miles after install, so I pulled it out to send in to spec clutches in Alabama. My t56 has been having shifting problems lately so I decided to tear into it and rebuild it. It has always grinded 5th gear when shifting since I bought it.. 2nd gear is also difficult to engage into sometimes and will grind if you power-shift it. It also has a pretty nice whine to it at idle.
Upon the tear down, I noticed that the plastic pads on the shift forks on 2 of the forks are broken. Also the first gear on the mainshaft is discolored and feels sharp. The gear that contacts that gear also feels sharp however is not discolored.. Should I replaced both of these or is that normal? This is my first t56 rebuild, and I was wondering what other components should I replace while it's apart?
Thanks,
Craig

pic is still blurred, but I think I see the discoloration. Are the matching countershaft teeth discolored and scratched also? You should probably replace the input shaft as the discoloration would indicate the metal has been tempered and not as strong as it was. Most likely the countershaft would show the same indications and would need to be replaced also.
