T56 Installation Issue!!

T56 Installation Issue!!
I'm in the middle of reinstalling my T56 back into my car after rebuilding it and replacing the clutch, and I'm having an issue that I can't figure out.
I can lift the trans up and into the clutch splines and slide it in, but when the trans is about 1/2" from the bellhousing, it just stops and won't go in any more. I've tried taking in and out about 5 times, I've tries grinding the alignment dowels to a taper on the edge, I just don't know whats holding it from going all the way in.
Is it possible that the pilot bearing isn't in far enough?? I installed it flush with the crank, do LS motors need the pilot recessed further into the crank for some reason??
Help is much appreciated!!

It might be slightly misaligned. The disc to the pilot that is. You might need to realign it & try to stab it in again.
I know w/ my twin disc I have to use an actual input shaft to align it & then it goes right in.

I've replaced a couple T56 clutches with the plastic tool that comes with the new clutch without problems. You don't need to have everything PERFECTLY lined up to get the tranny back in. You just need to have things close and the plastic tool does just that.

Maybe you just don't know how to hit the hole. Put some hair on it, you MIGHT be able to hit it then. You shouldn't have any problems if you have put your clutch in right.
