Default ls7 clutch holding strong

ill just make this quick for the people thinking about the ls7 clutch.

it went in my car with a rebuilt trans from t-56 rebuilds and a 01+ master and slave with the drill mod, only mods at that time was lid and cat back.

full bolt ons i did a off the limiter dump with a 9" 3.90s. 14 psi in the e/t streets the bias plys. well it slipped dont know why i did a 6200 dump but of well. i let it cool down for an hour or two and then ran a new PB of a 12.4 i think a 1.7 60ft on a 4k dump

added a cam (232/234) doing some 5k dumps best et of a 11.92 and a was geting 1.69 60ft on et streets.

added nitrous
did a 4k dump and nitrous hit, did get some wheel spin on all runs but the et streets had 13psi and did a best of 1.64.

my 9" has 3.90s and a truetrac, and i broke it it pops a ton on tight turns, looking in to geting a full spool

race weight is 3675

imo a great clutch, holds the power, drives like stock, i think i have over 15k on it

truely the best bang for the buck clutch. Same boat as you, bolt ons and spray, mine is holding perfect. My best 60ft is a 1.606, with a 150 shot off the line.

+1. I agree, it's a great bang for the buck clutch. I'm all motor and the best I've achieved is a 1.7X 60'. Adding a 416 and nitrous next year.

Great runs!

Wow, this really reassures my decision in purchasing an LS7 clutch. Should be arriving tomorrow and should be getting installed next week!!

I'm sold, Is SDPC the best/cheapest place to get LS7 clutch package?
How much should I spend for the install?
What is the break in period 500 miles?

My stock clutch has been slipping for a while, not bad on the street but can really feel it slip at track w/ drag radials.

The cheapest I've seen was 450 from SDPC. I was quoted for installation at $400 from a shop in NYC(clutch, slave cylinder). You may find it cheaper if you live in the southern parts of USA.

Yes, SDPC has the best deal on them. Just call around and see what some of your local performance shops are charging for a clutch install, or find a buddy to help you out with the install.

im pretty much sold too. I mean 400 for a clutch that all i have heard is good things about is a killer deal. Look them up on eBay and they is one seller that sells the LS7 clutch preassure plate and flywheel for 400 brand new.

I was told since its a factory cutch, it dosnt really need a break in period. But Id give it a week or so, just because

Thanks, I have done a clutch install w/ jack stands on an old GM 4 speed, many years ago, but without air tools I do not want to spend a day under my car, plus this 6 speed much heavier than that old 4 speed.

If you can do an older model clutch, this should be no problem, its not rocket science. The trans is a little heavier, but I just used a floor jack to support it while I navigate it down. I did it on jack stands in the garage. No sweat.

Mine just started to give out after 2years of street racing and track racing, both with a 150 shot. The street it doesnt mind as much, but the track with a stickey M/T, forget it. It slipped right after I got outta the hole. I got my use out of it though so I really cant complain too much. Next on the list is a monster stage 3.

I called a couple of shops yesterday for prices on the install, range was from $400-$600. I'm thinking about doing the install with a friend. I have 4 good jackstands, and recently purchased the new 2 part race ramps to work on the SS and the wifes Audi S4. How high do I need to lift the car the ramps are only 8" high? I figure the more room the better to move the tranny out then in.
