Another vote for pro 5.0 with a short stick. Much better than a Hurst.

i've been looking for a new shifter too. i currently have a stock shifter with a ws6store short stick and want something that has a tight feel for quick and easy shifts. thinking about getting a pro 5.0. would a pro 5.0 from a lt1 t56 work? if not, who has the cheapest pro 5.0's? sorry for butting in but was about to make a similar post

Alright, I have used the B&M Ripper, Pro 5.0, stock Hurst, and a Hurst Pro Billet. My UMI short stick was used on the Pro 5.0 and stock Hurst.

4.)Pro 5.0: Didn't self center worth a ****, making the 2-3 powershift very tricky. I hate that shifter and will never recommend it to anyone. The T56 has internal stops so having stops on your shifter is a bit redundant, not a worthwhile feature.
3.)Stock Hurst: One word describes it solid. It's a toss up between it and the B&M. It's not quite as good of a shifter, but since it has a 2-piece stick and is very cheap, it's a viable option. Way betterthan the Pro 5.0 though.
2.)B&M Ripper: Excellent feel, slightly longer throws. Only downside to this shifter is that it is a one-piece stick. If it weren't for that, it would be a contender for the #1 spot if not for that downfall.
1.)Hurst Pro Billet: By far the best shifter I've ever felt in an F-body. This was in my friend's car, with the Hurst stick that comes with it. It looks kinda tall, but damn this thing is butter. If it's too long for you, slap a short stick on it. It'd be hard for me to get rid of that blingin' Hurst stick though.

I'd like to try the McLeod Slik Stix shifter. Uses bellville washers instead of springs for the centering mechanism. It's expensive though. They make one for our version T56, but I forget the pn.

Pro 5.0 My personal favorite. I like the angle. Ideal for short stick etc. More noise than the stock Hurst. I've always found the 2-3 power shift to be idea.

Stock Hurst Quiet. Decent shifter. Personally, I don't like the feel of it and don't trust it with power shifting on 2-3. Seems a little tall or like the handle should be at a better angle.

B&M Ripper Good feel. Didn't do any powershifting with it. Seems solid.

Hurst Pro Billet Never had a chance to try this one.

hurst billet here after breaking the pro 5.0.

I have had or driven all of these shifters and I love the billet shifter with the short stick.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a pro 5.0...at least I think. I know my shifter is not stock. Is the ws6 stick or lou's short stick, shorter than what comes with the pro 5.0. I bought my car with it, so I am not sure. I would like to have the beat tuck up and the shifter be a tad shorter.

Just pull your shifter boot out. It'll say Pro 5.0 on the base if it is in fact a Pro 5.0.
