Pilot bearings - BIG vs small
#21
The TR6060 uses the short input shaft as far as I know, because it is used in the ZR1 and it has the short input shaft. It really depends on who you are getting it from. Any trans manuf should be able to tell you if it is the short or the long input shaft that you need.

I have the easy explanation of which one to use
GM Performance catalog says to use the small one if the pilot portion of the input shaft sticks out 20 mm or more past the bell housing face. Lees than 20mm (or not at all) use the big bearing.

On my 05 cts v I needed the small bearing
Who ever rebuilt the t56 in the car put the big bearing in the crank and then forced the transmission together resulting in the thrust bearings to be shoved forward and taking them out about five hundred miles after rebuild

My 04 C5 vette w t56 chewed the small pilot bearing and scored the shaft. I'm going to upgrade to the bigger bearing and have a machine shop grind back 1/4" of the shoulder to accommodate. Is the bearing press fit to the engine?
