Default Cutting factory shift stick?

I was wondering if I can take the factory shifter stick and cut it under the little bend to make it a "short throw". I tried searching but I couldn't find anything. I'm sure the stick is solid and not hollow. And I do realize that I'd loose the threads for the ****, but I have ways of getting them back, such as an uncle that owns a machine shop...

Has anyone ever done this? Or does anyone have an opinion on it?

It's not that part that makes it a short-throw.. it's the fulcrum point in the actual shaft.. the short-shifters pivot higher a little bit, which reduces travel length.

That's from my understanding anyways..

While its true a properly made short-throw shifter has a different fulcrum point( higher) , chopping the stick will shorten it up too. Both methods will increase the shift effort.
