Default Reverse Gear Out?

So my buddy is looking at buying an '86 Camaro, supposedly the reverse gear in the T5 is out. My question is, can this be replaced separately or do you have to replace the whole transmission? And if anyone can point me in the direction of getting the part, that would be much appreciated!

Could be a number of things, but T5's are fairly simple to rebuild and the parts are available. There are a number of sources, but we (Auto Gear) probably have all you need.

You have to open up the transmission, but the T5 Reverse is replaceable. The T5 service manual is http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English...0-0199_173.pdf

The Sponsors that sell T56 parts should be able to get T5 parts also, with a little effort.
