Default LS7 clutch questions

I have a 02 Z28 with an LS7 clutch, new master, new slave. Installed about 1500 miles ago.

Initially the clutch was very tough to push down, engagement was at the floor (typical of a new clutch).

After about 400 miles, engagement point was in the middle of the pedal travel, also normal. But the pedal was still tough.

Now, after driving it for a while, the clutch feels like my old factory clutch:

There is 1" of free play (ie the pedal has no tension on it, etc) and then it's a very light pedal. Engagement is fine, smooth and fast. No problems shifting gears or anything.

Is this light pedal normal with an LS7 clutch? The engagement feels closer to the floor, but it could also be because it is so light and now it is broken in.

I mean, it makes shifting a breeze and very smooth. I noticed this after being in traffic for an hour. The characteristics of clutch completely changed.

Sorry for the rant, but if someone could chime in here.. that would be great.

My LS7 isn't any harder than the stock clutch. Now if it is real hard to push in you probably didn't torque the pp bolts to propper spec. If you didn't you need to drop it and go head and get it done right before you destroy it. just what it sounds like to me.

My pedal also doesn't seem any harder than stock with my LS7 clutch, aluminum flywheel, tick master cylinder, and new slave. It's been smooth since I installed it around 1300 miles ago, and has only got better.

No, it was harder to push in while it was breaking in...

Now it's really easy to push in. The pedal still comes up and everything, it's just a real light clutch.

Hmmm, the pedal shouldn't really be lighter and you shouldn't have any play. Have you bled your hydraulics since you had it installed? Sounds like you may have some air in the lines.

Mine has a little play as well, I need to bleed the lines again. At first it was like yours it engaged off the floor, although at first the feeling was lighter, it has tightened up a little "I guess do to breaking in". Nothing extremely noticeable though, it feels like any normal clutch.

+1 for bleeding the lines again.
