as title says, friend of mine has a pro 5.0 short throw shifter out of an 03 cobra and i was wondering if it would fit into my 98 6 speed and what, if any, mods i would have to do to make it fit. thanks.

If he's a buddy I say he should let you try to hook it up and see if it works. I know those cobras have T-56s but that doesn't necessarily mean it will work. As I'm sure you already know a LT1 t-56 is different from the LS1 t-56, I would figure there is a difference in the Cobra. Hopefully someone can chime in who knows for certain.

The only difference between the lt1 and ls1 t-56 is the bell housing and the input shaft thats it. you can use a shifter from an ls1 car on an lt1 car and vise versa. now for the cobra t-56, the base should be the same but the handle is gonna be different as the mustang handle is cocked back some to more easily reach the driver.

The shifter base is completely different between the GM, Ford, and Dodge versions of the transmission. It will not work.

Almost right. The '03-04 Cobra( Terminator) and Viper SRT-10 Ram T56patterns are the same. The extension castings differ, but the shifter base patterns are the same. The GM/ F-car shifter patterns are different and exclusive. Converion is not practicle.

thanks the replies all, i was at his shop earlier today and we tried throwing it in there to no avail. oh well, 120 hurst off ebay here i come
