Default downshifted from 5th to 4th ,no sound or smell now no gears at all

i have a 98 ta built 383 ,ls7 clutch the car has ran fine since the swap 2 yrs ago , ive put around 20k on it since then , i was on 95 downshifted didnt hear or smell anything , nothing car just revs , the trans was fine no popping out,grinding,the clutch pedal still has the same pressure it always has , i put it in gear let out clutch and looked underneath the shaft isnt moving ? any suggestions before i start tearing out the trans ?

So you can put it fully into Gear and let the Clutch out, and it goes nowhere? I'd make sure it's all the way in gear. If so, then I would look into your Clutch..this one isn't a Trans issue.

yes that is excatly what is happening , ive owned this car since it was knew so you can take my word for it ,when i say its in gear any gear ,even reverse ive only had the car at the track 3 times since i built the engine , and the first time out i had 3k on the setup with a spec stage 3 smoked it after 2 passes . i dont know what is going on here ,but i guess im gonna find out ! thanks

Although the LS7 disc should be robust, if you don't rev-match downshifts, it's common to break the clutch disk hub from the friction surface.

Yea..but it would make some kind of noise you would think..unless the piece in the center is just free spinning.

yea,
i kinda knew that was most likely what happened ,i was just hopin one of you guys would tell me that it was something simple,where the trans didnt have to come out , well you wanna play u gotta pay, but it sucks ! thanks again

Sounds like you threw the lining off the clutch disc.
