Default 98 s10 t5

I have the chance to get a t5 from a 98 s10 4.3, just wanted to know if they are any good, it would be going in a 85 Monte Carlo SS with a stock 305. I don't plan on modding the car to make a ton of power so the trans does'nt have to be super strong.

A 98 S10 with a 4.3 should not have a T5 in it.

a 98 4.3L comes with 5 speed trans. its technically called the New Venture Trans, i beleive NV2500 or NV3500, But NOT the NV4500. That should hold up to a 305 no problem. I would say even a mild 350. I have a world class t-5 out of a 90 iroc in my 86 Cutlass with a 400hp 350 and its been fine. Had it in there for 6 years now, no problems!! GO FOR IT!

The unit has a bellhousing on it that is not removable. I would suggest going with a world class V8 Camaro T5 if you want a 5 speed.

well if you do a 5speed swap in to the monte use 2nd gen camaro/firebird brake and clutch set up for your controls, they bolt right in with little mods
