Default Not coming out of gear

The other night i was coming home from driving around my ss for awhile and i went to downshift out of 4th but when i hit the clutch and went to shift i could not shift into neutral. it would disengage from 4th but not go all the way into neutral where i could hit a different gear. I pulled it back into 4th and kept driving. after messing with it for awhile still driving i got it to pop out and i went into 3rd. well when i tried to go from 3rd to 2nd it did the same thing and it would not come out of 3rd. i finally got it home and just parked it for the night. well my dad and i were looking at it and tried to drive it this morning and it came out of gear and so we drove it around the block and it worked fine until he went into third and it got stuck again. well he got it out and started coming home and when we got into the driveway it got stuck in 1st. I'm pretty certain its something internal but not really sure what. I kind of thought shift fork possibly. Any ideas are greatly appreciated cause i need to get if fixed soon its my daily driver. Thanks guys.

You have all the symptoms of broken synchro key/keys. These are stamped steel keys (there are 3 in a synchro) that applies pressure to the outter synchro ring. When one breaks off, the remaining keys doesn't sit correctly and the ring gets "stuck" in that position until the shifter is "forced" out of that gear. Unfortunately, you have to open up the trans to repair this.

The keys broke on 5-6 synchro and this is what was stucked to the magnets.

The keys go into the 3 slots on the synchro you see on the left.

I think there are 8 bolts that holds the trans to the bellhousing. LT1 or LS1 T56?
