Ive allways wondered if they are inter changeable well the deal is that my revers in my c5 is going out.I just thought of swaping it out for a c6 z06 tranny or what are the mods that have to be made or is it a direct bolt on thanks...

In general, no. It depends on the specific application of both as the C6 setup was changed midway through production to a standard bolt pattern between the Manual and Automatic transmissions.

You would have to swap the tranny and rear.

Better option is to do a M-12 tranny from a 01-04 Z06. Direct bolt-in.

First, yes you can do the swap. In 2005 they didn't have the Z06 but the trannie is a direct fit. 2006 and up Z06 trans will fit but you have to use the Z06 diff/rear cradle/lower control arms. 2006 to 2007 is T56 but 2008 went to TR6060. I personally know 2 members who have this conversion done (TR6060) and they both exceed 900 RWHP/TQ.

so a 2005 c6 tranny will fit huh? its just that the gear ratios from the c5 and c6 are different from what I can tell...... okay ive been a witness of plenty of races from my c5 and others between c5/c5 Z vs c6 and the c5 can hold its own for so long before the c6 starts to pull.I know that it depends on the mods rev limiter etc. but I its allways at top end that the c6 starts to pull.So okay if I put a 05 c6 tranny will their be any tq loss or any change in the gears ratios???

On a C5, the Z06 have the M12 and non Z06 have the MM6. M12 has 2.97 first and MM6 has 2.66 first. Well, on the C6, it's backwards! MM6 on a C6 has 2.97 first. Find a MM6 equiped C6 trans and you should be good to go. It's a direct swap.

Can an internals swap be done w/o issues? or do you have to reshim everything?

Really need your specific details on what you want to accomplish. In some instances what you're asking can be done, others can't. Anything you do should be re-clearanced (shimmed) to be sure.

Probably best to open a new post with your specific questions..
