Ok I am looking at a 98z car with a 6 speed and the car is mildly built. The guy that purchased it is younger and was hottrodding and went to shift to second and missed it and just gave it a good cram...... Thats when it lost 2nd, it is still drivable but just grinds when you try to hit second i believe........ so what do you guys think? Any outlook would be sweet Thanks in advance Guys

A second gear rebuild would help. Sounds like the syncronizer is gone

Probably the 2nd gear syncro or maybe a worn shift fork pad.

Does it still move in 2nd?

I ripped the Engagement Teeth off of my old 2nd Gear..I doubt he did that there..

I think it's a syncro. Try doing this: from 1-2 depress the clutch for about 5 seconds and switch gears slowly into second if it doesn't grind or just grinds mildly it's the syncro. Oh and does second gear still go in at all?
