Default T56 Rebuild find

I'm in the process of rebuilding my t-56 and replacing all the bearings due to a noise. I had a spinning bearing race in the front cover and the large taper on the main was spinning. I find all the bearings to be KOYO and all the races are still Timken.

I guess the last person in there wasn't as motivated as I am

I've gotta get the race out of the input shaft, I'm thinking a Blind hole puller I can rent from autozone might do the trick???

was the noise there when the clutch was let out? And went away when you engaged it? If so I have the exact same noise and I think that race is the problem. I will be checking back often.

Could you post any pictures of the front cover and race/bearing?

I've used an inside pilot puller and some heat, to remove the bearing race.

OTC-7318 as an example

A Timken SET16 will have the correct mainshaft bearing and race to fit back into the input shaft, available at most Autozone stores.

85MikeTPI:
The Pilot puller was my other guess, wasn't sure which would work better. Thanks for the advice!

I ordered the premium rebuild kit with the timken bearings and races.

LS1powerhouse02: Yeah that is the noise i was having. I could hear it at and stand still with the clutch out, and it would go away when it was pressed in. I had an earlier thread that i posted about the noise. I have a few pics from dissassembly and some vids too.
