Default Mcleod LS1 T56 Bellhousing Install Issue, Help!

So I thought, might as well upgrade and get a safe bell housing while I've got the clutch and trans out.
Now that I have the Mcleod Bellhousing I tried to mount it up and the second starter snout (used for other applications I presume) interferes with the driver side header.

Anyone else use the Mcleod Bell housing?
What am I doing wrong?

The second starter bump out comparison to stock bellhousing.

Cut the bitch. The whole thing fits like **** anyways. Did you grind your block so the motor plate doesn't rub on your flywheel? That is my least fav part i have ever put on a car. Complete pile of ****. Wish i would have got a quick time.

You will have to clearance it. Also, is you're car/engine a '98 model? That rear cover looks like a '98 style which probably isn't going to work with the plate that goes between the engine and flywheel either. 99 and up rear plates are different.

You'll also end up grinding on the oil pan a bit to make it fit flush.... Its deffinately not an easy item to install.

You probably won't have to clearance a quicktime for the headers (atleast on an f-body), but I'm not sure that it will work with that rear cover either. I know they come with a plate also, I just don't recall how much protection their plate offers for the back of the engine. It will have to go around the rear cover plate, because the plate sticks out almost as far as the bolt heads on the 98 covers. The 99 up covers are much thinner, and the holes that are cut into the mcleod bell clears the bolt heads that retain that rear cover.

FWIW, I've had to clearance the crap out of a quicktime on a c5 vette with American Racing headers before...
