Default I pulled the trans and HOLY **** (pics)

As many of you know I have been chasing the famous clutch sticking problem since I bought the car a month ago here's the thread.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...g-problem.html

To make a long story short I ordered and installed the Tick M/C hoping to fix the problem which it didn't (shifting is much much eaiser now though)

So today I decided to pull the trans to replace the slave to fix this problem once and for all and this is what I found.

See that ring hanging on the input shaft that used to be a bearing.

Here's the bitch of it I can't tell (yet) if that piece broke off from the trans or the crank. If it's the crank the whole motor is coming out of the car to replace the crank.

Hmmm see any hot spots?

To make a long story short ya.......I think I found the problem.

Yes the clutch appears to be stock and its ground down pretty bad but the funny thing is I never felt it slip. No the slave looked like it was in decent shape but can't tell for sure because there was fluid everywhere.

mine looked the same way. The tip of the input shaft was still in good shape. The pilot bearing was gone just parts of the inner and outer race. The needle bearings were all gone.my stock flywheel and pp looked about like the one in the pic and the outer edge of the disk had been contacting the inside of the pp.

oh and my throwout bearing had come loose from the slave.

The shaft itself has wear marks like it's been bouncing around a bit in there. The shaft on the end is a bit rounded down not sure if its supposed to be like that from the factory or it was worn down. I am by no means an expert so I'm having a trans shop look at it.

the end of the shaft has a taper on it to help stab it into the pilot bearing when installing the trans. just measure it using a caliper or just slide the new pilot bearing onto it and it should be a snug fit it should slide right on but have very little play (no side to side movement.
