Default Best T56 shifter?

What is the best shifter for a T56? I have a pro 5.0 and hate it. My trans is from an 04 GTO with the shifter dog changed to eliminate the rearward position, so now the shifter bolts on to place the stick directly above the opening. I am looking for a road race application, not a drag race setup. Thanks,
Peter

I'm partial to the hurst billet plus.

Alot of people will say MGW.

It really comes down to these 2 as the "best shifters".

In my experience:

If you want better looks, notchier "old school" feel, that has positive feedback while providing insanely accurate shifts- Hurst billet plus. $185.00 plus shipping from Jegs, comes complete with black 6 speed ****.

If you want smoothness, a factory look, and still insanely accurate shifts- MGW. $209.00 plus shipping, and you need to buy a ball/**** (another $40.00 ish) or reuse your stock ****.

Those are the only real differences I could come up with.

Like I said.. I've driven both, but only owned the Hurst....

I like the B&M as well. It has a longer throw which I love for drag racing, you get more leverage to rip through the gears. For road racing, I would just try and find a shifter that is most comfortable for you since you arent as worried about lightning fast powershifts.

Hurst billet here, driving other manual vehicles after that is strange. There's enough play in most shifters to churn butter if you want.

I had the B&M short throw and I hated it. Ended up going back to stock. The 2 - 3 shift just felt awkward to me. Just my .02

Default Thanks

Looks like the consensus is the Hurst. Thanks to all who replied. I am going to purchase a Hurst and get rid of my Pro 5.0.
Thanks again.
