Default One of these slaves is not like the other...

So I'm in the middle of my clutch swap and when I pull the old slave I notice it's a little different than the new one...what gives? They're both GM pieces - is something different b/w an LS6 and LS1 slave? I bought the new one from Scoggin Dickey just not sure why it's different.

Looks like the old one is missing the top part, I have mine taken apart right now and it looks like the new piece you have. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the mcleod. Mine is an 02 z06 also.

That sucks man - it's a little ridiculous to wait over a month for a part. Speaking of ridiculous since I had McLeod balance the clutch/flywheel together they obviously bolted the pressure plate to the flywheel. Well now I can't get the bottom adapter ring off of the flywheel since it's bolted down too tight (when I try to loosen it the whole flywheel just turns on my bench). I'm going to get a flywheel holding tool tonight but in the meantime I'm bolting the flywheel to the crank to keep it from moving and then trying to remove the PP/lower ring bolts. I would just leave it bolted on but I want to clean all the parts prior to bolting everything together.

So I'm assuming it's ok to use the slave I posted up?

I used an impact to get the bolts out of the flywheel. And my old slave that came out looks just like your new one.

No impact gun here. I'll have to check the engraved numbers when I get home. I didn't realize but the LS6 slave is a different part number than the F-bod slave.

edit - just called Scoggin Dickey and they say they shipped me Part #89059282 which is the LS6 piece. They were saying it has been redesigned over the years so I guess that's why it looks different.

The last time I did a clutch swap (2006 I think), I noticed that they had done a redesign of the slave. The one I put in back then looks like your new one does now, and has been fine to this day.

I just got one with a monster clutch kit for a 98 fbod, and the body of it looks the same, although the bleeder and the master line look to be different, so I would say Your good to go, at least I hope so since were both in the same boat.
