Default T-56 serious problems!!!!

Ok guys I have a serious problem and need help ASAP!!! My car is stuck in 4th gear and will NOT come out. I got a SES light with the code P0704 (clutch switch circuit) that is the 2nd time this week that I have got that code. I cleared the code and still won't come out...It has done this before but if I slow to about 40 mph and push release then push the clutch it comes right out. But now I am parked and it won't come out!!! I NEED help....thanks in advance

3rd/4th have been allowed to be overshifted by abuse or overall wear. The synchro keys fall partially out and jam the trans. in (4th) gear. The codes have nothing to do with it.

*If* you can get it out of gear, you may want to shift 1,2,5,6 until the trans. can be pulled and gone through.

So what you are telling me is I am screwed....that it needs to be pulled...if it matters if I just shift normal(just use the gears to accelerate a little bit) but don't use 4th to just cruise around at 30 mph it does just fine....also if I am in 3rd and I don't keep my hand on the shifter it will POP out of gear...is there any way that I can get it out of 4th?

Yes it sounds like you have a bad 3rd/4th shift fork or key.

There are alot of good trans builders here on Tech.

Tick Performance, TDP, RPM, D&D, The Source and others.

Yes, it's possible as a do it your self project. The tranny weighs about 120lbs.

You need good jack stands, a good jack, a breaker bar or air tools, extensions, swivel extensions, 15mm 13mm sockets, a puller for the pilot bearing.

For the install you'll need a torque wrench for the fly wheel and pressure plate.

I've had mine in and out a half a dozen times, it gets easier the more you do it. If you have friends to help, that all the better, especially if they've done it before.

HEEEEY GUYZ .... STOP SHOCKING THE LAD YEAH !!
look mate NO BULLSHIT HERE !!

ME & MY MATE FOUND A SOLUTION FOR THIS ISSUE WHEN I FIRST SCREWED MY T-56 !!

Push the clutch in with the engine turned off.
STUCK IN 4TH & WON'T COME OUT = Shake the car from the rear both fender's while trying to pop ur gear out of fourth (2-3 people required) .... within around 30'Sec's of shaking the rear sideways & me trying to pop the gear out of fourth ..... SUCCESS ... BUT this left me driving around annoyingly (3rd shift grind - 4th gear stuck again) ... BROKEN SYNCRO 95% SURE ...

IMO - trans rebuild required & what I did was wait for the stock clutch to burn so i could pull down my gearbox for a total rebuild .....

Bronze Fork Pads are a MUST (IMO) ... got my parts for the rebuild from The Gear Box.org .... & im Slamming Gears like a **** for 8 month =)

PLEASE REPLY ON SHAKING UR REAR END PART SIDEWAY'S TO POP THE STUCK GEAR FROM 4TH ..... I got the idea from a guy with the same issue but in Park (Reverse in out case) he was sadly getting his car towed ... while towing he was doing a desperate minute hopeless check if the gear would pop (car was 50% off ground & shaking) .... My hopeless idea resulted to a Miracle !! .... CAN'T WAIT TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPEN'S WITH YOU !!

The only think that I don't have and can't get immediate access to is the puller for the pilot bearing...what/where can I get a puller?

I used this one from Harbor Freight.

http://www.harborfreight.com/automot...ller-4876.html

I had to grind down each jaw a little so it would fit in the pilot hole.
The tool worked real good after that.

What clutch do you think you might go with ? Monster, Diamond or LS7 ?

I am leaving the bell housing on the engine! That is what I was suggested to do by Jason at TDP...he really knows what he is talking about. CLUTCH!!! I am not replacing it...its a spec stage 2 with lightweight flywheel both have less than 5k miles on them.

I would advise the OP to rebuild ASAP. The broken synchro key CAN damage the trans. Click here to see why the upgrades are neccessary.

That's the way it's done, pull the trans from the bellhousing, you'll have a heck of a time doing it otherwise.

Yes Jason knows what he's doing and he's reaaly cool.
He set me up bigtime with all sort of parts for my MN12-T56.
