Default Bought a Ram HD clutch...

....and was wondering what kind of life/mileage has everyone been getting out of a aggressive clutch disc with a stock resurfaced flywheel?

Really? That sucks. I have less power than you have, I probably wouldn't lay down 360rwhp or so. Its going behind a cam/bolt-on LT1 with street tires.

I've had a 402 pressure plate and 6130 disk with a stock flywheel for almost 10 years now. It has been rebuilt once and is due again. Given I have not raced the car lately as much as I did the first few years with the clutch.

Mine lasted 2000 miles with bolt-ons and didn't even hold for one dyno pull with the new motor

Oops, I did not notice you had said HD. My disk is different. The 6130 is a6 paddle disk. I think the HD uses the 910 disk.

Sorry for my confusion.

No big deal.

Like I mentioned before, my mods are stock ported heads, cam, and bolt-ons, so I only dynoed 330rwhp when the car was an auto, so I'm guessing around 360rwhp with a M6. Is this too much power for these clutches, or are they just not any good to start with?

I worn mine down till it started rubbing, before it started to slip. I beat the hell out of it, its a great clutch.

I ran mine for about 10,000 miles without racing and it did great. First trip to the drag strip killed it. Still drives fine around town, but slips horribly in high RPM's.

I'll never buy another RAM. I'm debating on what to go with next.

you guys either don't know how to drive, or are oiling these things down, or whatever. My ram powergrip HD was a great clutch for 20k miles. Dragstrip every few weeks, mostly street driving around town. I was making 410 rwhp with my old motor, drove like stock.

Ya somthing is up with that. if you look up any clutch you find guys saying "it sucks only lastest 500 miles no racing" Cars with 10bolts and street tires, its not the clutch that was bad. How many 10 bolts have been destroyed with stock clutches, lol

Well, you guys give a little confidence back, so I'll stick with what I got for now.

Just for reference you said something about not being able to drive, what exactly do you mean? Like ridding the clutch on take off or just smoking it at the track while trying to launch and do burn outs?

I probably have around 10k on mine so far without any issues.

yes. When I had the powergrip hd, it was easy to slip below 1500 rpm. If you can do that the clutch will last a very long time. When I switched to a spec 5 i was doing 2500 rpm dumps at stop lights, because the clutch was difficult to slip. Guess what, that spec 5 looked brand new when I took it out over 1500 miles later.

oh yea btw, i sold that old 20k mile powergrip hd clutch because it still had probably 50% left in the friction material, I think i got 100 bucks for it.
