Default Input shaft seal (LT1 tranny)

I have a 93 6-speed LT1 tranny that needs a new front input shaft seal. From the looks of it it will not come out from the outside like an LS1 6-speed, but I thought I would ask any way. Will I need to take the gear box apart then replace it from the inside and how big of a job is that? I've had one apart before but its been a while and I had an extra set of hands, so keep that in mind.

Both the LT1 and LS1 require the front plate to be removed to change the seal. Once the plate is removed, take a flat blade screwdriver and stick it under the seal. Twist it and the seal should pop out. You can then install the new seal and reinstall the front plate.
