wanting to put a clutch kit in, what do you recomend?

Default wanting to put a clutch kit in, what do you recomend?

I have a stock 2000 firebird formula with Ls1 & t6 transmission my clutch is starting to wear out. I'm pretty hard on my car and I am looking to put a clutch kit in it that will handle my abuse and taking it to the drag strip. any recomendations on what clutch kit to buy?? I honestly have no idea

For you, I'd say go with the LS7. Guys here are putting down some crazy numbers through that clutch and it still drives like stock.

+1 Another vote for the LS7 kit. Putting down over 600 rwhp on spray and I haven't had the first problem with it holding. Drives just like stock, however it can handle the power (which is precisely where the stock clutch falls WAY short).

Agreed - it really depends on what power level you expect to be at in the next few years and how often you take it to the track. I just put in a twin disc clutch because I wanted a stock pedal feel and zero chatter. The fact that it holds up to 800 ft-lbs of torque is way more than I'll probably ever need but leaves me room to grow if I ever go with a LOT more power.

I most likely wont be adding a whole lot of power in the next couple years but of course I can't be completely sure, but I want a clutch that will hold up to some serious abuse and last for a good while. also how much difference does the lightweight flywheel make, please explain...srry for my ignorance, I have a very limited amount of experience/knowledge when it comes to transmission components

The Diamond Stage 1 is only $369 shipped. Add the flywheel and slave for a total of $719 shipped. That includes the 15lb chromoly flywheel. When it comes to lightweight flywheels, a very high quality metal MUST be used in order to prevent warping. So not all lightweight flywheels are created equally. Several of my competitors use the typical nickel steel billet flywheel, which will not handle the heat like the Chromoly (chromium) flywheel will. A lightweight flywheel increases your engine's efficiency by reducing the rotating mass. Therefore your engine RPMs will go up faster and come down faster. The stock flywheel and clutch weighs 49lbs, whereas the Diamond 1 w/ fly weighs 43lbs. You can not go wrong using the light flywheel that I offer.
