Default T56 reverse solenoid

Engine swap. Small car. T56. Reverse solenoid is encroaching on the drivers seat. I'm loathe to remove it in case I ever let an idiot drive (said idiot being me most likely).

Is there a substitute in a physically smaller package?

Fabricate a drop down pin that blocks it at the mid-case shift guide assy. and is spring loaded to push down when the driver is not lifting up on it.

It would be nice if someone made a simple spring loaded pin that bolted in place of the solenoid to give it some spring pressure. Even better if it was about 1/2 the spring rate of the solenoid so you can just muscle it over pretty easy when you intend to.

I was thinking of trying to fab something like this because that solenoid would make me cut my floor pan more than I'd like.
