Default T56 Help springy shifter?

ok so i have been having some problems. first off while the car is not running i can put it in second leave it there but then also pull the shifter like 4 inches further back from where second gear alredy engages this also happens while the car is running, same type of stuff happens in fourth gear. i first noticed this under heavy aceleration in first, shifted rather hard to second and it was like the shifter busted in half but then when i let off it sprung back to normall position. now when ever i get on it in first and try to shift to second its like the shifter ends up in the back seat. also it feels to me like all my gears are closer together especially 5th and reverse. any ideas what could be causing these problems? any help is much appreciated!

Do you have a stock shifter? If so, get an aftermarket one and you'll be happy. The stocker has a rubber bushing in the stick that makes it feel like a wet noodle.
