Default manual transmissoon that came in 1998-02 f-body

i thought of using a tci paddle shifter but i threw that idea away.
so what type of manual transmission came with the ls1 from 1998-02 f-body's.
because im on a budget and id like to get a ls1 v8 used by private seller or in a junkyard that id rebuild along with the trans to put in my first car which will be a 1978-81 camaro.
im 15 by the way and this wont be happening till im 16 or 17

borg warner/tremec T56

what kind of budget are you on? because it's not as easy as just dropping in a new engine and transmission, it's a lot of work and a lot of parts which means $$$

If you're on a budget a stock LS1 and 4L60E is cheaper. T56 tend to be much more expensive. That is, if you don't mind automatic over manual.

i was thinking going to junkyards and look for a 98-02 f-body with engine and transmission and just buy the whole car so i could use more than just the engine and trans

for the money just get an lt1 car best bang for your buck there. Ive seen several 6 speed lt1 cars with around 100k on the clock go for what just and ls1 and transmission would go for

Pending on where you live...

heres a LS1 and auto for 2000$
http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/gm...plus-more.html

And a complete LT1/T56 car
http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/gm...1800-00-a.html

So as you can see deals are out there but you need to plan out better what you are trying to do. After you have a budget you can set plans..
