Default 18lb or 28lb flywheel for my combo

I am going to go with a monster stage 3, just debating on which flywheel now. Here is the combo: 98SS camaro H/C/I 430rwhp 410rwtq, 4:10 geared S60, raceweight 3900#.

Car will see mostly street miles, maybe 40 passes a year. I am planning on running 26" tall drag radial. Launching on a 2-step, not looking for great 60's, more like consistent 1.6's. I'm also not looking to launch the car at 6000 rpm either because I don't think a dr will hook.

I already ruled out the aluminum flywheels because I think they are too light for my car. I am wondering if the 18lb will work well and help me in the traps or if I will be better off with the heavy one? Thanks

Ryan

I would go with the 28lb of thoos two considering your racewieght and it will be more friendly on the street

If I'm not mistaken, the heavier the weight, the better your launch. I think the lighter flywheels are more geared towards road racing.

Thanks guys. I'm sure the heavier flywheel will hit the tires harder. I'm not sure if a drag radial will be able to take the hit or not. Why is the heavier one better on the street? I thought lighter would be better for the street. Thanks

Takes away from the engines momentum, so the car always needs throttle. <-- As it was explained to me.

I can see that, but it also will rev faster when given throttle.
