Just had the flywheel turned, bolted it up and had a stripped thread. Sent it to the machine shop for fixing and noticed some residue on the flywheel:





Its still smooth, but I dont know if this is rust or what. Is it safe to use?

Looks like some light surface rust. Just make sure you blast it off with some brake cleaner and and it should be fine.
