Default T56 vent tube....what's the white thing on the end/top?

I'm not going to spend $50+ to buy a new vent tube since mine is missing.

I noticed on a friends T56 at the top/end of the vent tube there's a white cap thing that kind of swivels.

Is it a one way check valve, or just a cap, or what the heck is it?

I was just going to route some transmission cooler line up to about the bell housing area, but not sure how to top/cap it off at the "open" end.

Any ideas/information on this topic?

Is there a way to replicate it using something off the shelf?

Would a one way check valve (from like a vacuum line or a brake booster etc) work the same as a "pressure relief valve"?

Dorman 14689. Dealer has the same item too. It might fit the stock tube, it might not.

It's not a check valve. It breathes whereas a check valve does not.

I would just use some rubber hose about the same lenght and a breather valve off of a differential.
