Default Oil coming out of bellhousing?

I did my clutch, master and slave last winter. I noticed where the tranny connects to the bell housing, where there is the drainage hole, kinda like a rectangle where the two meet, there is oil coming out of there. Anyone ever have this? Im not sure if its the tranny seal on the front of it or the slave. I havent noticed any fluid dissappearing.

Did you check the rear main seal?

It was dry when I did the clutch. I am going to have to pull the tranny and check it. How do you change one of those? I did put a new bearing in the back of the block when i did my clutch.

mine did the samething, but after careful examination. it ended up being the breather tube on top of the coils, on the passenger side of the motor in the back by the firewall. the hose had busted off and was leaking down to my bell housing and was dripping out as if it were a rear main seal.

Yea... this happened to me when the Delco slave cylinder I installed turned out to be a dud. Changed to a GM unit and so far, so good...

Im thinking its the slave, I did have a problem with it over extending before I put it in. I pushed the pedal too far without it in the car and it came apart and leaked, I will check it out over the winter, it it requires a new one I will throw one in.

Well is it oil or brake fluid? Right there you'll be able to rule out some parts.
As for oil, it can be alot of things. Rear main seal and Rear cover gasket are two big ones. But if yours was dry when you did the swap then I wouldnt be worried about those. I had oil leaking on my clutch from the Oil pressure sensor. Just needed some loctite on the threads.

To make this all easier on you, get a drop of whatever is leaking on your finger and taste it. If it's brake fluid, it will have a sharp rancid taste.

...I see this is over a 10 year old thread that's revived...however, I can add that I too had the problem, pulled the T56 only to discover the rear main seal was dry and discovered that it's actually my oil pan gasket...

my bad lol still trynna figure my **** out, I replaced my oil pan gasket and seepage at the tranny and bell housing still remains. Went under it today and found this

I think the white silicone used on the rear main timing cover is causing the leakage, gonna try and pop tranny off tomorrow and see what’s causing my clutch slippage. Hopefully it ain’t soaked with oil lol
