Default Viper T56

Will the T56 out of a 2005 Viper fit a 2002 SS Camaro? It appears that transmission is not made by Tremec it has Borg Warner stamped on the side. I have a friend selling one with low miles for $2000 and want to make sure it will fit before I purchase it.

The bellhousing is different and so is the tail housing. The position of the shifter on the tail housing will not line up. (Someone correct me if Im wrong)

You'll have to change the front plate and machine the input shaft. If you're trying for a direct fit, you'll have to change the tail also.

For the most part, it's alot of work & $ and you don't end up with much more than if you started with a Fbody T56 and had a sponsor do a viper-spec upgrade to it..

Thanks guys, I had a feeling it was not a direct bolt in. I will just buy a built T56 instead.

We sell T56's fully built with the upgraded steel 3-4 shift fork and billet keys, one year unlimited mileage warranty for $1800 w/ out exchange. You can choose the close ratio or wide ratio gear set.
Or, if you're making 700+HP/TQ, we sell a "better than Viper" 31-spline T56 unit for $2500.
