I got an 03 Escalade block (GENIII) in my car and everything bolted right up. If you stay with a GEN III block everything will bolt right up. If you go with a LS2 which is GEN IV I believe, I think the knock sensors and the cam position senors are in different locations or different plugs

yes... mine is an LQ9. you can still put an LS2 if you want to save the extra weight. like i said I think its just a couple different connections

I know you can put a T-56 behind a LQ4, LQ9, and all the LS motors

i think it was 99-00 6.0L's that the crank was different.

Dont forget that pilot bearing during install!

^^^Correct. The 99-00 LQ4 crankshaft has a longer rear flange that can only be used with 4l80e/th400/th350 transmissions. A 4l60e or T56 will not bolt up to these engines. Starting in 2001 they went to the shorter flange that bolt right up to a T56. These early engines are easily identifiable by their iron cyl heads heads instead of aluminum 317 castings that came on the '01+ engines.
