reccomendations on tranny/clutch
got a 2000 formula t56. The gearbox has made a little noise while idleing since i obtained the car. It goes away when the clutch is disengaged. I was burning out the other day and went to second only to find the tires not spinning anymore. It was the clutch slipping. Fortunately stills holds after the roast. Car has 83,000 on it. Any reccomendations on clutch mfg's and what the noise might be. drives and shifts fine.
heard some good comments on monster.

I vote monster 3 as well! If you're under 500hp anyways lol. My car is mostly stock and it works great for me.. pedal effort is a bit heavy, but nothing I can't live with on a daily basis. The clutch only has slight/non-existent chatter when slipped mildly (20K DD miles on mine so far and still grabs like the day it was installed)

At your power levels you could consider something like the LS7 clutch. It was designed for a ~500hp car and I've heard rumors that they hold up fairly well at ~550 in Corvettes. Granted that is a lighter car, than an F-body, but I have to believe that the clutch should hold ~450 in our cars.
As long as your goals are only around 400rwhp, I would think that the LS7 clutch could be a good option. Its relatively cheap (only about $35 more than the stock clutch when I purchased mine), extremely smooth and easy to modulate, and should be fairly long lived. (time will tell, but GM is willing to warranty the Z06, so it should last a bit)
I'm sure you will get differing opinions, and I urge you to consider their ideas as well. I centered my search around OE style clutches because of their proven track record. My car is a DD, and any parts I choose for it _must_ be reliable, cost effective, and long-lived.
Good luck in your search, LS1TECH is a great resource.
David.
Disclaimer: I have just finished breaking in an LS7 clutch and I am quite enamored with it. The clutch is deceptively civil unless you get off of the clutch too quickly in which case it reminds you very quickly that it is in fact a performance clutch.
