Its not worth it unless you can find someone with an M6 that just wants an auto you could swap with.

Rough numbers here

Used t56 ~$1800
Clutch/flywheel ~$450
Slave cyl ~$150
Master Cyl ~$120
Pilot Bearing ~$20
Shifter ~$150
Fluid for Trans ~ $40
Pedal Assy/brackets/interior BS $??

Im sure some things are missing here.

$1800 for a used stock transmission? and $40 for fluid? ummm no.

-rebuilt/upgraded t56 from TDP $1900 ($700-1000 for working used unit)
-bellhousing $100-150
-clutch kit (pp/disc/flywheel/slave/pilot) $700ish for a really nice TDP unit
-master cylinder $120
-crossmember/pedals/torque arm mount/console $2-300 from partout
-trans fluid $12
-brake fluid $8
-wiring/electrical goodies $30
-m6 tune flash $75ish

I did the swap about 6 months ago. Is it worth it? it depends. I plan on keeping my car for a while. 4l60e's start to go between 100-120k more often than I like knowing about so it came down to either $3k for a built 4l60e and converter or a 6 speed swap. I like road racing so I went the 6 speed route. I now have a transmission that holds more power and does what I like it to do.

I'd say for a car that doesn't get raced it's really not worth it. Just sell it and buy something stick unless it has sentimental value or you have a lot of time/money in it already.

Do it right or dont do it.

Price on trans included being gone through/upgraded.. Ya, you can get a nice super low mile stock trans for ~ 1200..
$12 for 4 qts of good trans fluid. . This is the cheapest dime store build I.........................

NVMND, Im sure this guy is on it. Good luck with the swap man. You should PM creeper for full details.

I paid $1550 for a GTO 6 speed complete with sensors and bellhousing shipped, and it had less then 30k miles. If you really wanna do the swap you can start looking at the for sale section for all the parts that you will need, and if you are really patient you will find allot of awesome deals. After all is said and done the swap will end up costing you around the same price of a built 4l60E with a good converter.

I did the swap a while back..
$1200- T56 Trans, used, with Bell Housing. I re-built it with the Tick Stage 2 Kit and other parts that it needed..so about another $1k in it.
$1000- Textralia Clutch Kit
$150 - New Slave Cyl.
$200 - B&M Ripper Shifter
$35 - 2" White Ball with 6spd pattern..
$75 - LPP Speed Bleeder..I wont install one without it.
$170- Stock Master Cyl, new.
$40 - Pedals
$30- M6 Cross Member, then I upgraded to a Torque Arm Relocation Crossmember from UMI
Pilot Bushing was free, so was the Rubber Boot and Tune cause I have HP Tuners. 6 Spd Console Piece I made from the 5spd one in the V6 Car I swapped..

Ya there's about $4k there..just short of it. I kept it all from my Camaro and stuffed it in my MCSS..works like a champ..

Only you know if it is worth it. I would gladly bite the bullet to have the m6. You might just have to look around to find a good deal. Maybe you will be able to sell ur auto to recoup some of the costs.

just wait and find a wrecked fbody. That's what I did. Found a 89k mile 00 SS for 5000....got it for 3500. Took the tranny, wiring, pedals, and all. Turned around and sold it for 3500 lol. Still spent another 3k on clutch, driveshaft, master, slave, UMI crossmember and so forth. But made the swap really easy.

Na you will have to add parts to it..pretty much all that is useable is the internals & case.

what's your problem? you said nothing about rebuilding the transmission, you just said used t56. and I'm sorry not overpaying for fluid is considered "dime store" in your mind. 4 quarts of pennzoil ATF is $14, Coastal (which I believe TDP uses) costs $12 for 4 quarts, and there are plenty of others out there in the same range that work just as well as anything else. I tried the ~$40 synchromesh for a while, liked it at first, but cold weather shifting was awful and noticed no difference at all switching back to ATF.
