Exclamation Just wanting an opinion

I don't know if this is posted in the correct area or not. But here goes, I want to buy another LS1 but cant find one that I want with a 6 speed in it. How hard would it be to convert an automatic to a manual. and if so will would i have to use one of the tremec t56 transmissions or would the borg warner transmission off of the 93-97 cars be able to fit on there? if you can help me out with some answers it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

yes you can convert a auto over to a manual.
if you are a 98+ you need to get the t56 transmission.

why convert.....stall it and dont look back. used to be a 6 speed guy till I bought an auto car and put a higher stall in. but if you love a manual, you dont want anything but a t-56. spend some money to get it rebuilt if you buy used or build it new to handle whatever you can throw at it, its a lot easier to spend it now than later!

ok, do you know or have an estimate at how much it would cost to do a swap like that?

I agree with Gunrock, stall an auto and call it a day. If not, then I would just keep searching till you found a 6 speed car that you are happy with. But that's just because I wouldn't want to go though the hassel of a swap. Just my .02 cents.

Price depends on what kind of T56 you want. Do you want a completely rebuilt one, or one that hasn't been rebuilt but still is in good condition? Etc. I got my rebuilt T56 for $1,200...but I say do it! I love the M6!!!

yeah well i already have an auto that i'll build up later. i just cant find a ttop 6 speed around where i live for the right price or with a **** ton of miles on it. thats why i would want to do the swap. i know it would be a lot of work. And yes I would have the transmission rebuilt before putting it in. I don't want to start driving and the synchros go out a couple miles down the road cause they are worn out.

Yeah, knowing you have a nice rebuilt tranny is always a good feeling. While you're in there, or if you have someone else rebuild it for you, I would suggest replacing your keys with billet ones. On my rebuilt tranny the 3-4 key went bad and it would often pop out of 3rd (which meant I could never shift fast ) so I dropped it and replaced the keys. I got them from Thegearbox.org http://www.thegearbox.org/T56.html. There's your link for our T56s
