Default Problems in first gear

Ok so I own a '00 Firebird 5 speed and the past week or so I've been getting some pretty heavy vibrations from the trans area and sometimes even feels like the rear axle. It happens when I start from a stop and move into first gear. I can get into the gear fine but when I finally make the connection and release the clutch completely the car shakes really bad for a second or so.

Sometimes it feels like it's the trans and sometimes it feels like it's a little further back, I'm not sure. The car gets into all other gears smooth and once I start driving for a while and the car warms up the vibrations usually go away.

I thought it was the clutch at first but I don't think so anymore. What do you guys think?

If you start out in 2nd gear does this happen? If so I would first look at the mounts , then consider clutch problems. I can't think of aything that would clear up as the car was operated.
