Default Lets play a game....** now with more carnage! yay

What is the object to the left in this picture?

The round is a 30-40 krag (similar in size to a 30-06) used to scale the object... GO!

ok well no one wants to play so i guess i will go into further detail...

I installed a new Spec 3 clutch last fall ~3,000 miles ago. I did not go to the track, do burnouts, spray nitrous or anything. I have a heads/cam setup making ~450rwhp. Whatever this thing is, it came loose from somewhere and did some damage which i will show below. It is NOT a bolt. I took it to my friends performance shop after i did a 2nd gear pull and started hearing God awful noises and the pedal feel is all over the place. He pulled off my starter and with a magnet pulled this thing out. He thinks its a weight off of the pressure plate? I would just like to see if anyone knows what this thing is or has had a similar thing happen before i look for my next course of action.

Here are some pics:

My bell housing is destroyed, it has actual holes in it that look like someone shot it with a .22 rifle as well as numerous cracks. My starter is also chewed up pretty well.

That looks pretty bad but I dont see why you cannot continue to use that housing.

Of course it is a gamble. When I reinstalled my t56 back in RX7 we broke a piece off the bell housing that made 2 bolts useless. I rolled the dice and went with it, Ended up working out pretty well. But my damage is a little different from yours.

Were the dust shields installed after the clutch swap? Might have been some road debris that got thrown in there if the covers were not on....

Yes the dust shields were on. Even if they were off, that is kind of a far stretch wouldn't you say?

Looks like it could be a roller bearing off the throw-out bearing. Those do readily tear up and are inside the bellhousing.

the ends of this thing are flat and the sides looked to be "pushed " or "rolled" over from impact (you can kinda tell in the pic that the end was flat at one point) I guess the only way to know for sure what the hell this is, is to pull the trans out

You are asking for help and I gave an opinion. No need to be a dick about it. I build t-56's daily and every car that comes in without the dust covers have all kinds of rocks and pieces of road debris in the bellhousing. So no, I don't think it's a far stretch. Either way, good luck....
