Default Copper Washer between Slave and Bleeder?

I tried contacting Tick yesterday but never heard back.

I bought their GM Slave and speed bleeder kit, installed the copper (crush) washer, and it's seeping brake fluid, and it's tight.

So, it looks like I have to go try and find a thread sealant today (more $). But the copper washer should be junk at this point I would think. Not sure if I should risk reusing it?

Suggestions?

Upside down, just to let it bleed.

Tight is a relative term...

What is it torqued to and what is the torque-spec for it?

Copper crush-washers don't leak if they are torqued properly. That is thier purpose, they deform and conform to the surfaces to NOT allow for a leak. But the caveat is they need to be torqued down properly to cause them to deform and seal.

Thus, DO NOT USE SEALENT!!! IT WILL LEAK!!!

No question about it, sealent will not hold the pressure behind a hydraulic system. Sealent is not used in hydraulic systems, as all connections are sealed by conforming surfaces (such as AN fittings, copper crush washers, double-flare fittings, etc).

No torque spec provided from Tick. I used a 6" cresent wrench to double check it.

Regardless, the crush washer is now junk. Go get another and try again.

Agreed. Where could I get one and what size?

If the first one didn't work, how will the next? Seems to be hit or miss. Might pickup thread sealant also?

Thanks Joey!

Being a tad frustrated, I put the wrench back on it and said what the hell, and squeaked out maybe a 1/32 of a turn or so.

Flushed fluid back through it.

It's dry

Of course, now I'm gun shy and will be paranoid that it'll leak when I try to bleed it with everything back together.
