problems installing t56 tranny in a 02 trans am
Guys im looking for some help install my tranny, well I got the whole tranny rebuilt new ram powergrip clutch and I resurface my old flywheel and Oyea new clutch slave as well. I got the tranny up but I can't seem to get it lined up so I could slide it on in threw the pilot bearing. Its going threw the clutch but just can't get it to go all the way. I used the alignment tool when I mounted the clutch and pressure plates that I will be straight in centered. I pulled the tranny back down put the alignment tool back in to. Make sure it was the same size and that it was centered, but im still having a problems sliding the tranny on. Any ideas is much appreciated

Try tilting the back of the trans different ways and shake the **** out of it lol. If the alignment tool slides in and out easy the trans will go in it just takes some persuasion. What ever you do don't suck it in with the bolts if it wont sit flush

I've tried both n I been shaking the he'll out of it.I get to the point where the release bearing is touching the teeth on the clutch. If I get threw the clutch it should go into the motor right

Re-align your clutch disc.
It may not be perfectly centered with the pilot bearing.
That will be your last 3/4" of so.
I know with my twin disc set up I HAVE to align it with an old input shaft.
If I use the plastic alignment tool it wont go....

I took it down yesterday and realign it. Everything seems to be straight. @ wrencher did u have to jack up the front of the motor so that back will fall some. It seems something not letting me pick the tranny up high enough.

This is what I would do. Just went through this a week ago on a friends ride. May want to loosen everything up, hold the alignment tool in the middle till everything is good and tight. Grease the input shaft too. If you re-grease it everytime you bring the tranny down, you should see lines of where it is stopping.

Just dropped it again, still no results. I re check the lining re greased and it go all the way to the release bearing but that's it. Since the slave is brand new is the compression on the spring that tight to were I can't push it all the way on, im thinking since everything is brand new and has no wear on the input shaft is gone fit kinda snug in the pilot bearing, n that's what's im guessing im fighting against.
