Default Shifter Boot Retainer Ring

Guys. There is an old thread out there for anyone looking for a replacement shifter boot ring. Farmer2 is his user on the forums. Here is a link to his eBay store for anyone interested.

www.NOT-A-SPONSOR.com.org.gov.net

Looks like a great solution to a known problem.

There are better and less expensive solutions. The stock ring is made of ABS, which can be welded stronger than the original material. A $3 can of ABS Cement (not the multi-purpose stuff) from any good plumbing/home supply will do this.

Try finding one now that they are discontinued.

Just an option that is all.

Right. Why buy a new one or a replacement when you can weld/glue the old broken one? Just another option.

$29 is a good deal. A whole new boot will run you over $70. Its the price you pay for the prestige associated with owning a classic.

After repairing/patching the old ring you wind up with a repaired/patched POS ABS plastic that GM should have never approved in the first place. BTDT.

Got my wire-type piece on the Bay from the same guy (Farmerto) that makes them for 6le. Excellent quality, end of problem.
