Default t56 third gear problem

my camaro will not go into third gear easy and without grinding i was doing a big burnout yesterday and went for 3rd and it wasnt there i thought it was just me at first but on the way home i could not get it to go into 3rd without having to slam it hard and it grinding but once it goes in it does not make any noise and it comes out of gear easy it has ground a couple of times in the past under normal driving and after my last time to the track it has jumped out of 4th a couple times i think it is a bad 3-4 syncro and a bad shift fork looking for any input to whether i am on th rite track or if i have other problems thanks in advance

I'm sure thats the problem. You'll find a damaged 3-4 synchro assembly, probably with broken keys. You may also need a new 3rd gear. Once you get the T56 apart, you'll most likely find several other issues as well. There's no way to tell exactly what all needs to be replaced until the trans is disassembled. So pull the trans, disassemble it, then order the necessary parts. Be sure to pay close attention to the engagement teeth on the sleeves and speed gears. If they are dull then the part is no good. Of course, upgrade to the steel 3-4 fork, even though it may appear to be perfectly fine. Then upgrade to the billet keys. Then replace all rings, regardless, and all other wear items. Good luck with it

Just wondering was it 3rd gear and the syncro that needed fixing?
