Default Help Pulling Driveshaft

I've got a big *** chromoly driveshaft that I'm trying to pull out of my trans. Is there a trick to doing this? I'm pulling like crazy and its not budging. Its already unbloted from the rear and hanging.

take a prybar, and wedge it between the end of the tailhousing,(the metal part not the seal) and the shaft yoke, give it a quick pop towards the rear.. If it dont budge use the prybar in the same way keeping steady pressure on it and tap around the yoke with a hammer. Than should break it loose.

It pretty much how I had to pull the axles on my corolla, but there are C-clips on the ends of those so you have to do it that way.

The driveshaft shouldn't be siezed on the output shaft. If it doesn't move freely in and out atleast an inch you could be doing serious damage to your transmission. Once you get it out inspect the splines inside the yoke and up into the tail housing of the transmission. You might have a twisted output shaft which needs to be fixed asap.

It definately doesn't move in and out freely. I wonder if it could have something to do the setup I've been running the past couple years. A local shop installed these parts originally, that I'm selling below. Everything seemed to be running fine.

I got it out. I wasn't able to get it with the pry bar because there just wasn't enough room to get any leverage. Instead I was able to rest a 2' ratchet drive against it and it popped loose with a couple hits from the mallet. It slid right out after that and the splines looked okay from what I could see. I'm thinkin it just got wedged in there a little when I was freeing up the other end of the driveshaft or when I was removing the rear.

Thanks.

With driveshafts I have found it helpful to lift the rear of the shaft level when trying to get it out of the trans. It takes the weight off the splines which tends to make a difference. For future reference............

And a prybar???
