Is it possible to put a shift **** from a mustang cobra (or something similar to this) on an 02 trans am with the optioned hurst shifter? I'm pretty sure the threading is different but wondering what my options are. I don't want to pay $65 for a leather wrapped shift **** and I hate the cue ball type *****. I don't mind having to get a different shift stick if I needed too since the factory hurst is a little tall.

all depends on the thread of the **** you are wanting, The Fbody is a 12mm x 1.5 if I am not mistaken. If the one you want is that pitch your good to go, if not, there are options, You can make an adapter if there is enough to work with, or you could replace the stick and have the pitch you want on the end. I have seen stock ***** go for way cheaper than 65 on this site.

Stock 83-02 F-body is M16 x 1.5.
I don't know if that one can take a tap that size to open it up.
The C6 vette one is nice and although plastic, can be force-threaded onto the f-body stick threads.
